Sculpting With Natural and Found Materials
Crafts
Learn to create 3-D works of art, using your own interesting objects and/or found natural materials. The instructor will demonstrate and discuss techniques for designing, assembling, and joining various materials into sculptures, including both free-standing pieces and wall reliefs. Please bring your favorite items and materials, such as household objects, handsome old picture frames, bits of pottery or glass, or curious pieces of wood, and learn how to combine them into fun and sturdy works of whimsical and original art. A colorful picture frame might be combined with found objects to create a hanging work of art. Or an eye-catching piece of found wood could become the base for a sculpture using other natural materials. The instructor will discuss the process, using some of his own sculptures as examples, and demonstrate basic tools and adhesives. Then we’ll focus, both individually and as a group, on your projects. Along with materials, feel free to bring any of your favorite tools. This two-session class should give you the skills to work in your place at your own pace.
