Drawing for Beginners
Are you struggling to capture shape, proportion, or perspective? Do you spend hours correcting mistakes, or have trouble seeing what's wrong with your work? In this class, we'll develop a fundamental skillset for producing recognizable images and clear likenesses: drawing. You'll learn a set of simple techniques for quickly and accurately rendering form, no matter the medium. This will not only improve your drawing, but also enhance your painting, sculpting, and visual thinking. This class is designed for beginners. No experience is required. Intermediate level students are also welcome to continue their work.

Create Your Own Original Hip Hop Songs - Ages 8-17
February Break
Through demonstration, practice, and creative exploration, students will write, refine, and perform their own original hip-hop song. The program begins with the instructor performing two original hip-hop pieces, followed by guided listening to classic artists such as The Sugarhill Gang, KRS-One, and Kool Moe Dee. Students will explore what defines hip-hop culture and sound—rhythm, storytelling, message, and performance—and how it differs from rap alone. Next, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of lyric writing, including rhyme, flow, structure, and voice. The instructor will demonstrate how to pair lyrics with beats, using clear, engaging examples. Students will then write their own verses and experiment with beats to bring their songs to life. Throughout the class, students will listen to and respectfully critique each other’s work, learning how feedback strengthens both writing and performance. The program concludes with an optional live performance, where students can use the provided headset and speaker to confidently perform their finished hip-hop songs. Please bring a notebook, pen or pencil, water bottle and a nut-free snack.

February Break
The spoken word storytelling class incorporates the use of your five senses, the surrounding natural world, and the people you know to create a spoken word story, and the option to recite or perform it to the class. The instructor will start by performing two original spoken word pieces to show what spoken word is and how it is written to be performed live in front of an audience. Students will explore and express their five senses, the natural world (such as the ocean, deserts, their own backyard, and neighborhood), and the people in their lives (like parents, uncles, aunts, teachers, mentors, and themselves).
