We will have fun learning to make French Crepes (à la française) while learning well-known French words and sayings through songs, stories, and games! Kids will work from scratch to make the soft, tender, and paper-thin French crepes. They will mix ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, eggs, milk, and butter in a bowl; pour the batter into a frying pan; rotate the skillet to spread the butter in a thin layer; flip it until the crepe is lightly brown on both sides; and top it all off with whipped cream, fresh fruits, chocolate sauce, sugar, etc! Then we'll eat, sing, hear stories, and play games, the French way!
**Adults are welcome to stay and work with their child. This is not required.**
Please let us know of any food allergies. We will be working with wheat-based flour, eggs, and some of the condiments may contain traces of nuts.
Class $25 | Material fee $10
I have had the pleasure of teaching French to students of all ages for over twenty years, having taught at Applewild School, Groton Community School, and other area schools. A fluent French speaker, I have lived in France, attended universities in France and Luxembourg (La Sorbonne, L’Université de Valenciennes and Sacred Heart du Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg), and worked as a translator for the government of Luxembourg, as well as having danced professionally in a modern dance troupe based in Metz, France. I’m a firm believer in the value of multilingualism and I am passionate about introducing people to French language and culture!
