Adult, Child & Infant CPR with AED & First Aid
This intensive three-hour course covers adult/child CPR and AED, adult/child/infant choking, and infant CPR. Following the course, you will be comfortable assessing a victim, checking for breathing, performing rescue breaths and chest compressions, and activating the emergency response system. You will also learn how to help someone who is choking, respond in other emergency situations, and use an AED. An American Heart Association course completion card good for two years will be emailed to participants following the course. **Optional: bring a yoga mat or towel for comfort during the hands on portion.**Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certification e-card within 2 weeks of your class date. To claim your card, you can either: Login to your American Heart Association account at heart.org/cpr/mycards. Check your email! It will be emailed to you directly from the American Heart Association (eCards@heart.org) with the subject line "Claim your AHA eCard". Opera Alive at Prescott - 2026
Performing Arts
Join us at the Prescott Community Center for a dynamic opera education series centered around the Live from the Met in HD broadcasts. Before each broadcast, participants will receive background on the featured opera, its composer, story, and production elements to enhance the viewing experience. Following each screening, the group will gather for a guided reflection and discussion, providing space to share impressions, unpack themes, and deepen understanding. Billiards/Pool Class for Beginners
Games & Recreation
Andrew DeChristopher, a pool player based in Fitchburg with over ten years of experience in pool education and competition, will lead beginner billiards/pool lessons at the Billiards Cafe in Ayer, MA. Participants will learn the fundamentals of stroke, stance, aiming, grip, bridges, and game rules, with plenty of guided practice time. Along the way, students will discover how pool is not just a skill-based game, but a fun, social activity perfect for friendly competition and connecting with others. Advance Registration is required. All materials are provided. This program takes place off site at The Billiards Cafe, 39 Main Street, #201, Ayer, MA.

Mary and Jim have traveled extensively throughout their lives and their retirements. Returning from a long trip to South and Central Africa that included four separate safaris in four countries, they decided to share what they learned about most safari trips, including many photos of animals and landscapes one might expect to see. How to pack? Typical regimes? African culture? This class helps you prepare for your next trip or reflect on a past one. **All proceeds benefit the Prescott Community Center.**

Homework Help - Grades 5-8
Education
The Prescott Community Center offers a safe, supportive homework help program for students in grades 5–8 on Mondays from 4:00–5:00 PM and Wednesdays from 5:00–6:00 PM. Local high school honor students, guided by a supervisor, provide individualized support in math, writing, reading, organization, time management, and study skills. Registration is required to ensure a homework assistant is available, and families will indicate the specific areas where their child needs support when signing up. The event’s success relies on your participation. We will need many volunteers who know math, reading, and essay writing, and can provide study guidance. Who is in Charge? An Introduction to Electric Vehicles

Are you thinking about buying an electric car but concerned about the current state of charging and various options for electric vehicles? The class will discuss and explore topics such as the charging choices (past, present, and future), the cost of ownership, range anxiety, the influence of weather on range, the world view of electric vehicles vs. American expectations, and more. The instructor, who has owned an electric car for over 10 years, will share his research, experience, and observation. The program is designed as an interactive question-and-answer session. The second half of the program will be a hands-on charging demonstration workshop outside of the Prescott Community Center parking lot. The program will hopefully help you to make an informed choice about which kind of car would work well for you.

Join us for a fun and creative painting night at the Prescott Community Center, where you can sip wine and create a masterpiece! Whether you’re an experienced artist or just starting out, this relaxed event is the perfect way to unwind, express yourself, and connect with others. Come solo or bring friends—the atmosphere will be full of creativity, laughter, and great company. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase to make your evening even more enjoyable. The instructor will prepare high-quality paint and canvases for the painting event. Participants do not need to bring materials, only curious and joyful minds. Workshop $30 | Material fee $15 Please note: Drinks and snacks are not included in the workshop fee but will be available for purchase during the event.

Your Life, Your Words: Memoir Writing for Women - Age 55+

Memoir writing enables us to share our stories and reflect on the beauty and meaning of our lives. In this course for women aged 55 and over, we will write about some of the events, people, and transformations that have shaped our experiences. You don’t have to think of yourself as a writer to enjoy this hands-on workshop; our focus is not on literary perfection but rather on evoking memories and discovering meaning as we tell our stories and listen closely to the stories of others. Through writing prompts and informal assignments, we will access memories and details as we enjoy writing together and sharing our work. Readings will include selections from a variety of memoirs written by women. (Open to women 55+) Required: bring a notebook/pen for in-class writing. Community
Have you dreamed of an adventure, maybe just outside your comfort zone, but didn’t know how to begin? Do you enjoy learning how “normal” people do extraordinary things and what insights they learn on their journeys? Come hear author, professor, and adventurer James Nehring explain how everyone, regardless of age or ability, can experience the thrills and personal empowerment of a challenge met. Learn how you can create and complete your dream adventure on your own terms! Jim will share exciting stories from his journeys—cross-country cycling, coastal rowing, and long-distance trekking—along with photos and dramatic excerpts from his new book, Everest and the Rest of Us: Four Journeys in Search of Adventure. This program is interactive, so feel free to share your own adventure stories or dreams—and if you’d prefer to simply listen, you’re warmly welcome to do that too. Someone Special & Me Dance - The Enchanted Forest

Step into a night of magic, music, and memories at Prescott Community Center’s Someone Special & Me Dance! Kids ages 5–10 are invited to bring someone special — a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, family member, or friend — for an unforgettable evening together. From the moment you arrive, the fun begins! Strike a pose at our photo booth, dance to upbeat music, play games, learn new moves, enjoy giveaways, and make memories you’ll be talking about long after the last song plays. This year’s theme is the Enchanted Forest, so dress to impress and wear your best dancing shoes! Be sure to bring a camera or phone to capture the magic — including a special photo at our whimsical photo booth. Snacks and beverages will be available throughout the evening to keep everyone energized for fun! Tickets are $15 per person. **All Parents, Guardians and Children must register to attend.** Each child may be accompanied by more than one registered adult.

Glass Blowing - Make Your Own Beautiful Glass
Workshops
Very cool and hot! Join us for a Glass Blowing class at New Temple Glassworks, newtempleglassworks.com, in Temple, New Hampshire in the beautiful Monadnock region (approximately 40 minutes from Groton). Up to 6 people for this group lesson. The New Temple Glassworks offers the following classes: Blow your own glass ornament – $40 Make your own glass flower – $40 Make your own glass paperweight – $65 Blow your own glass pumpkin – $65 Blow your own drinking glass – $65 Blow your own vase – $95 **A $20 registration fee is added on at time of payment. The item you register to make is the item you will make during the glass blowing class. You are only allowed to make one item during the two-hour class.** All classes include instruction, assistance, tools, color, and safety equipment. Please note that anything made in the hot shop must be annealed (cooled slowly) before it can be picked up or shipped. All the work will be delivered to the Prescott Community Center for pickup. Prescott will notify you when your class item is ready for pick up. During the lesson, you will be working in a fast-paced, hot environment, so dress appropriately. Please wear cotton or other non-flammable cloth (i.e. avoid synthetic material, fringe, etc.) Closed-toe shoes only. Students must be 12 years of age or older. Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Planning Your Trip to Magnificent Glacier National Park

Famous throughout the world, Glacier National Park is a geographical marvel with jaw-dropping mountain vistas, deep valleys, and clear, pristine lakes, and should be on everyone's travel destination list. Your host for this session is Steve Brunelle, a savvy and experienced DIY traveler who has visited all of the major parks in America. He has stayed in their lodges and camped, hiked, explored, and sought out the best areas to see and experience. Steve recently returned from a trip to Glacier National Park in September and is eager to share his experiences and photos and help you prepare and make the most of your trip. Having a successful and memorable trip to these large remote parks requires skillful planning and research. This program will help simplify the daunting task of planning your own trip. Geopolitical Roundtable: A Closer Look at Significant Issues and Events in Geopolitics Today
Current Events
MG (Ret) Bruce Zukauskas will lead and facilitate a roundtable discussion on significant geopolitical issues and events occurring in today's complex world. The objective is to provide a forum for a better understanding of world events and also provide a means to discuss and learn about different viewpoints on world affairs. General Zukauskas will select his “Top 3 Issues or Events of the Day” prior to each session in order to help stimulate the discussion. For example, the “Top 3 Issues” for a session might be: the West’s continued support for the War in Ukraine, Israel and Hamas, or Iran’s next move in the Middle East. He will begin each session with a short background presentation for a better understanding of the topics. A roundtable discussion, facilitated by General Zukauskas, will follow for questions, comments, and discussion on the selected topics or other noteworthy geopolitical topics of interest by the group. **All proceeds benefit the Prescott Community Center.** Here is what they are saying about Bruce's Geopolitical Roundtable: "A diverse array of relevant topics is addressed, with Organizer presenting thought-provoking content."
