Family Tour of the New England Shirdi Sai Parivaar
History & Culture
Come and join us to visit New England Shirdi Sai Parivaar (NESSP), a temple in Groton, MA! NESSP was formed by devotees who share their love for Shri Shirdi Sai Baba and are inspired by His teachings. The tour will start with a presentation and a tour of the building to learn about their religion and beliefs. Participants may then purchase lunch from Sai Canteen, enjoy the food together, and learn about the Food culture. Information about Sai Baba of Shirdi (excerpts from Wikipedia): Sai Baba of Shirdi (c. 1838–15 October 1918),[2] also known as Shirdi Sai Baba, was an Indian spiritual master considered to be a saint,[3] and revered by both Hindu and Muslim devotees during and after his lifetime. According to accounts from his life, Sai Baba preached the importance of "realization of the self" and criticized "love towards perishable things". His teachings concentrated on a moral code of love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, inner peace, and devotion to God and Guru. Activity schedule: 10:00-11:00 AM - NESSP Tour 11:00 AM-12:00 PM - Lunch in the Sai Canteen (optional)

Making the Iconic Indian Samosa
Food & Drink
Samosas are the most popular street food in India. In this workshop, we will make Samosas from scratch with step-by-step instructions. We will prepare the dough with flour, salt, oil, and water, and make the potato filling with boiled potatoes, green peas, onions, and spices like turmeric powder, chaat masala, salt, pepper, etc. Then we'll shape the dough into a cone, fill it with the potato mixture, seal it, and fry it in a pan! Yum yum... We'll serve the freshly made Samosa with chutneys! Each participant will make about 3 Samosas. You will be required to bring some cooking materials and a container to take home any extras. Class $30 | Material fee $8 **All children must be accompanied by a registered adult.**
