Following his March 2024 talk, How False Beliefs About Meritocracy and Post-Racism Have Contributed to Unjust Socio-Economic Policies, Jeffrey Fuhrer returns to share insights from his latest work on economic justice. In the program, he will cover the following topics: A brief description of the current state of the economy; The current status of economic need in the US; The programs needed to address the need—primarily providing a more equal access to opportunity; The importance of changing narratives around economic and financial need to build support for such programs. The program will conclude with an open Q&A, offering participants the chance to explore the financial impact of today’s policy choices. Jeff Fuhrer brings nearly four decades of experience from the Federal Reserve System, including over 25 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He currently serves as a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institution and a Foundation Fellow at the Eastern Bank Foundation.
