A Meditation Workshop: Loving What Is (The Work of Byron Katie)
Health & Wellness
In this workshop, we will learn the transformative process, The Work of Byron Katie, to gain a perspective of clarity and inner peace. The Work is simply four questions that, when applied to a specific problem, enable you to see what is troubling you in an entirely different light. Participants will practice listening to the answers they find inside themselves and open their minds to profound, spacious, and life-transforming insights. We human beings tend to put our happiness on hold until something changes. We'll be happy, we think, when we get what we believe we want or need: more money, a healthier body, a more attractive or understanding partner, a loving mother, and children who behave. Many of us spend our lives trying desperately to get the world and the people in it to satisfy our desires. No wonder we don't feel any lasting peace; mentally we're continually engaged in war with reality. As we do The Work of Byron Katie, not only do we remain alert to our stressful thoughts—the ones that cause all the anger, sadness, and frustration in our world—but we question them, and through that questioning the thoughts lose their power over us. **All proceeds benefit the Prescott Community Center.**

A World of Teas
Food & Drink
Learn how to brew the perfect cup of tea, while sampling 7 to 8 fine, loose-leaf teas, with sweet and savory snacks to complement them. Tea has played a major role in the history of the world, influencing trade and trade routes, arts and crafts, cultural habits, and social movements. Discovered in China, the tea plant (camellia sinensis) traveled to Japan, Nepal, India, Ceylon, the Middle East, Western Europe, and, finally, the Americas. Like wines, there are hundreds of kinds of tea, with different qualities, depending on the varietal, climate, soil, and processing methods. We’ll sample a variety of teas—black, oolong, green, and others--from China, India, Sri Lanka (Ceylon), Taiwan, and other great producers. We’ll also discuss the fascinating history of this “elixir from the East.” Feel free to bring one or two of your favorite tea cups or mugs. Class $20 | Material fee $5

AI - What Does It Mean to Me?
Science & Technology
Suddenly, AI is everywhere. It's new (not really), it's cool (often), and it's scary (sometimes). We'll talk about what AI is and what it isn't, the major categories/technologies used in AI, its near-term applications, and speculate a bit on where it's going. We'll talk about these questions: - How can I use AI tools in my everyday life? - What does AI mean in an academic environment? - For artists and writers, how does AI affect my property and rights? - What aspects of AI should I REALLY be afraid of? Can I do anything about them? This session will be an overview and introduction. We won't go into detail on these topics, but attendees will be provided with not-very-technical references and resources for further investigation.

The program content includes: Exploring Colors - Introduce primary, secondary, and complementary colors. Students are introduced to the foundational elements of color theory. They'll explore the relationships between different colors and how to mix them. Skills Learned: Observational drawing, watercolor techniques (like wet-on-wet and gradient washes), and creativity in capturing the natural world. Materials: Watercolors, brushes, paper. Texture Exploration - Experiment with textures using everyday objects. Students explore how texture can bring a painting to life. They'll experiment with materials like sponges, palette knives, and texture paste to create layered and dynamic textures. This allows them to deepen their sensory awareness and enhance their ability to add dimension and depth to their watercolor pieces. Activity: Create textured art using sponges, palette knives, and texture paste. Students will experiment with different textures to see how they can add complexity to their watercolor paintings. Skills Learned: Sensory awareness, texture creation, and building depth in artwork. Materials: Watercolors, brushes, sponges, palette knives, texture paste, paper. Final Art Showcase - Celebrate creativity and progress. The final week focuses on reflection and presentation. Core Strength and Conditioning
Exercise
This class is for those who want to build strength, especially in their core, glutes, and shoulders. After age 35, we start losing muscle mass which can lead to a host of problems, but the good news is, if you are intentional with your exercise routine, you can build new muscle at any age! In this class, we will use progressive overload (repeating movements with multiple sets) to fatigue our muscles and thus build strength. All exercises are designed to be safe and effective. All abilities are welcome, no previous experience is required. Variations and modifications will always be given to work within your limits while still challenging yourself. Building a strong body helps to prevent injury, lose fat, and create a lifestyle where movement is accessible as we age. **You are required to bring a yoga mat and water.**
