Join us for a cozy, cultural gathering as we watch the French film La Môme. Kathryn Niose, Prescott French Instructor, will introduce the movie. The film will start at 11:00 am and last for 2 hours and 20 minutes. The movie is rated for ages 13 (in France). We will have time to chat before and after the film. Drinks and light refreshments will be available.
Here is a brief synopsis of La Môme: Born into poverty and raised in a brothel, Édith Piaf (Marion Cotillard) achieves worldwide fame. Though her extraordinary voice and charisma open many doors that lead to friendships and romances, she experiences great personal loss, drug addiction, and an early death.
I have had the pleasure of teaching French to students of all ages for over twenty years, having taught at Applewild School, Groton Community School, and other area schools. A fluent French speaker, I have lived in France, attended universities in France and Luxembourg (La Sorbonne, L’Université de Valenciennes and Sacred Heart du Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg), and worked as a translator for the government of Luxembourg, as well as having danced professionally in a modern dance troupe based in Metz, France. I’m a firm believer in the value of multilingualism and I am passionate about introducing people to French language and culture!
