Fire, Ice, and Beauty: A Geologic History of New England

We all love New England with its beautiful hills, old mountains and seacoast. But how did it all come to be? The answer involves a tale of fantastic factors and forces that created the complex and diverse land we live on. In this course, we will study the history of Massachusetts and greater New England from a geological perspective, both ancient and recent, both momentous and mundane, that have resulted in our home region.

All proceeds benefit the Prescott Community Center.

Jim Frey

Instructor

A longtime executive in the technology industry, Jim Frey holds a B.Sc. in Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. He currently lives in Dunstable where he has successfully rationalized the many boxes of rocks in his basement by teaching Geology to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and local geo geeks at large.
