Exploring the Multi-Faceted World of Public Art
Adult & Family Programs / Fine Arts & Crafts / Workshops -
Prescott CC - 2025 PROGRAM CATALOG
What is the purpose of public art? What makes some works so popular--and others not? And how has public art changed? It's clear that this art form has played a major role in our society--so let's take a closer look at it. To be sure, it's been making a lot of headlines lately: controversial statues removed and new ones replacing them that celebrate unsung people or events, works of environmental and political art, and new kinds of "pop-up" art. Yet classic artistic forms, like the bronze statue and mural, still endure. We’ll take a wide-ranging look at the field, from monumental and great 19th-century works to the ever-expanding range of contemporary expressions, and talk about their aims and artistry.
This class will be offered on Zoom. The link will be sent in your confirmation email.
