    Patrick Gendron, a certified Archery instructor, will teach the proper archery range procedures, safety, and how to shoot a bow and arrow through a step-by-step approach in a fun and safe environment. **Parent/Guardian is NOT required to stay.
  • Bugs Among Us

    Let's learn all about the bugs that live among us! We'll start by explaining how to tell an insect from other bugs (spiders, pillbugs, centipedes, millipedes, etc). Then the instructor will demonstrate different methods of catching bugs (sweep net, beating sheet, sifting leaf litter, and a kick net for aquatic insects) and methods not involving equipment like looking under logs, on flowers, on tree trunks, and more. Join us to learn about these wondrous creatures and their important role in our ecosystem. We will meet at the Groton Center Parking lot and walk to the Old Sportsman's Club together. We will be outdoors; bring sunscreen and bug spray. **Parent/Guardian is required to stay for this program.**

    In this workshop, students will create an 11x14 canvas painting with a summer-inspired theme. We will paint together step by step, learning, and practicing acrylic painting techniques. Students will have opportunities to create their flair and details. Workshop $30 | Material fee $5 **Parent/Guardian is NOT required to stay for the class.**
  • Digital Illustration and Animation with Procreate - Ages 9-14

    Students will learn how to use Procreate to craft and illustrate original characters. They'll turn their illustrations into animations to create a comic or tell a story. Your child will learn to bring their illustrated characters to life! How cool is that? An iPad with a downloaded Procreate app and an Apple (or similar) pencil is recommended for students who want to create digital illustrations with Procreate. **Parents/Guardians are NOT required to stay for the class.**

    In this workshop, students will create their own felt stuffy by working with a premade design. They will then make alterations to create new patterns to cut out felt pieces.   • Kids Woodworking Workshop - Build a Birdhouse

    Join us in creating houses for our feathered friends! Learn how to build a birdhouse out of wood using hand-tools then decorate your house and take it home! Younger children will assemble pre-cut pieces to make a house. The older children can cut the wood pieces with a hand saw. Workshop $30 | Material Fee $10 Parent/Guardian is required to stay and assist their child through the building process.

  • Make Your Own Ice Cream Workshop

    Hot outside? Join us in making cold and tasty homemade ice cream at Prescott. Laura Satiano has been making ice cream at her father's restaurant, Johnson's Restaurant and Dairy Bar, Groton, MA, since she was 14 years old. Not only will she share the "secrets" of how Johnson's makes their yummy ice cream, fun historical facts, and the favorite flavors, but she will also work with you to make your own flavors with our ice cream makers. Lots of ice creams to taste and enjoy! Yummy! Workshop $12 | Material Fee $10 **Parent/Guardian is required to stay for this workshop.**
  • Media Production Summer - Ages 9-13

    Spend your vacation exploring a variety of options in media production which includes working with video, sound, music, and photography! Working in small groups, students will learn the basics of visual storytelling through activities that explore both theory and practice. Activities include games such as visual dominoes and practical exercises such as video, audio, or photo scavenger hunts. Students will be provided with a range of options to create a presentation of their group's choice and collaborate in story development from planning, rehearsal, and recording. They will pull it all together by editing and fine tuning their work to have a finished product to share and critique with their classmates. The class content will include: 1. Producing a written story on a topic of the students' choice 2. Creating a storyboard, shot list, or shooting script (Pre-production) 3. Using video or photography to act out their stories; or creating a "How To" presentation that teaches a skill 4. Learning the basics of visual composition and film theory through demonstration and activities that include photography, video, and sound recording 5. Editing: Pulling it all together and making a finished product 6. Sharing their work with the class and participate in positive critique and feedback Students will need to have access to a smartphone, tablet, or video camera that they can bring to class and work with at home.

    Join us for some pottery making fun this Summer! The class will meet on Monday, July 22 and Wednesday, July 24, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. You will learn basic hand building, wheel throwing and surface decorating techniques while creating a mug and plate of your own design. You'll then choose from hundreds of glaze combinations and glaze your pieces to be fired. The fully functional (durable, waterproof, food-safe) pottery will be ready for pickup on Friday, July 26. How wonderful is that?!
  • Snapology: STEM, LEGOS, ROBOTICS, & MORE! - Ages 6-9

    Build away with friends on early releases at Prescott! With dozens of programs to choose from, there’s something for everyone. From fun, themed programs using LEGO® bricks to STEM / STEAM programs, Robotics, Movie-Making, and Drones, your children will be engaged from the minute they walk in the door. Each session will include two project activities with a 20-minute break in between. Students can bring their lunch and drinks to Prescott at 12:30 PM before the class or arrive for the start of class at 1:00 PM. Snapology provides children’s enrichment at its best with year-round STEAM learning programs that engage children from ages 4 to 14. Snapology instructors use fun, hands-on activities to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. While children are exploring robotics, coding, and design challenges using LEGO® bricks, engineering kits, and technology, they’re building skills that will help them throughout school and their careers. To kids, it’s just fun! February 9th - GameBots Robotics In this game-focused robotics program, your engineer will explore the basics of robotics while playing some awesome games with and against their classmates! While working with a partner to complete various challenges, your student will be taught how to effectively utilize sensors, how different mechanical components work in their robots, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master with just a little practice. We will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with creative building challenges and awesome games! February 16th - Super Structures Can you design the next Taj Mahal? Come create and build the future using LEGO® bricks in Snapology's new and exciting Architecture class! It's never too early to foster your child's engineering and building skills in this super cool program. March 1st - Mega Machines Robotics In this machinery-focused robotics program, your engineer will explore the basics of robotics while building some pretty spectacular vehicles with their classmates! While working with a partner to complete various challenges, your student will be taught how to effectively utilize sensors, how different mechanical components work in their robots, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master with just a little practice. We will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with creative building challenges. March 8th - AttackBots In this exciting program, students will build a variety of military-inspired robots that will respond to their programmed commands. While working with a partner to solve the various challenges, your student will be challenged to understand how to effectively utilize a sensor, how different mechanical components can alter the power and speed of their machine, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master with just a little practice. We will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with games and challenges using the robots they build with their partner. They're going to have a BLAST! March 22nd - Mining and Building Do you think you know everything there is to know about Minecraft® and more? In Snapology’s EPIC Minecraft®, you are going to be put to the test. Your knowledge is going to be challenged in games of crafting and creating. What ideas can you create in EPIC Minecraft® - perhaps something that you never thought of before? Come see if your skills are worthy at Snapology's EPIC Minecraft®! May 10th - Animation Studio Workshop Create amazing movies with stop-motion animation using LEGO® bricks. Children will work in teams to produce their very own movie complete with dialogue and sound effects. Movies are uploaded to a secure site for family and friends to see how cool they are! May 17th - Responsive Robotics Workshop In this challenge-focused program, your student will begin to develop their computational thinking skills by playing with modular, robotic cubes known as Cubelets®! Imagine this - every way your student snaps the magnetic cubes together creates a unique robot, but what matters is how they figure out the perfect robot recipe to solve a challenge. They will work in small teams to figure out how to create energy-efficient lighthouses, racer bots, maze solvers, goofy animals, and so much more! Is your student ready to play and tinker all day with Snapology? June 11th - Scientists Allow your child to cultivate their love of science and experience different domains of science & nature. Students will engage in concepts from astronomy, earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics using LEGO® bricks and other interactive learning tools. Your child will expand their engineering skills by designing and experimenting with robotic attachments and refine their computer programming abilities by creating program codes that make their bots run races, play hockey, and so much more. Students will work in groups and use the LEGO® SPIKETM Prime technology to complete these exciting challenges. By giving our students challenges through games and friendly competition, they don't realize how quickly they are learning core programming skills for a future in STEM. Join us as we shrink ourselves to mini-figure size and create our own mini-figure worlds.     Prescott is teaming up with the Groton School Athletic Department! The Groton School is offering tennis clinics for players of all levels to improve their tennis skills. This is a small clinic of 3 students that will provide individualized attention to each player. **Parent/Guardian is required to stay for the program.** All proceeds from this program will benefit the Prescott Community Center.
