Adult, Child & Infant CPR with AED & First Aid
Health & Wellness

This intensive three-hour course covers adult/child CPR and AED, adult/child/infant choking, and infant CPR. Following the course, you will be comfortable assessing a victim, checking for breathing, performing rescue breaths and chest compressions, and activating the emergency response system. You will also learn how to help someone who is choking, respond in other emergency situations, and use an AED. An American Heart Association course completion card good for two years will be emailed to participants following the course. **Optional: bring a yoga mat or towel for comfort during the hands on portion.** Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certification e-card within 2 weeks of your class date. To claim your card, you can either: Login to your American Heart Association account at heart.org/cpr/mycards. Check your email! Beginner Ballet for Strength, Flexibility, Posture, & Grace

This class is designed for beginners with no prior ballet experience, introducing the student to the fundamentals of ballet technique. The class will be structured in a traditional format, beginning with barre work, followed by center work, and concluding with a stretching session. The emphasis will be on learning a ballet class structure, achieving correct body alignment, utilizing efficient body mechanics, developing good musicality, and exploring qualities and dynamics to progress toward a comprehensive understanding of ballet technique and expressiveness. Students will be guided to work safely and intelligently in pursuit of their physical potential. Students are required to bring a yoga mat (for stretching) and ballet shoes. Shoe recommendations are provided in the confirmation email.

Bonjour Les Amis! Cours pour Débutants - Beginner French
Travel & Language

Students will learn French conversational skills, grammar, usage, and mechanics, while learning to solve translations and honing their pronunciation and dictionary skills. As much as possible, students will be learning French interactively and naturally, through TPR (Total Physical Response), much in the same way one learns a maternal language. We will be using music, international signs, body language, and games during class, as well as reading short current event articles, graphic novels, and/or listening to short blogs. Students will learn basic greeting vocabulary, such as common expressions and commands, calendar items, weather, numbers, and action verbs. They will learn basic prepositions, and how to give and follow directions. Students will discuss hobbies, professions, likes and dislikes, as well as how to conjugate present verb tenses. Materials to bring: Please bring to class a notebook and/or loose-leaf paper, writing utensils, a pocket folder, and a small French/English dictionary would be helpful (Katy will have extras on hand). This class is for beginner adult students. Build, Decorate, and Fly Your Own Kite!

Get ready to create, connect, and watch your imagination take flight! Join us for a hands-on family program where you’ll build and fly your very own kite! It's a great activity for all ages, from 8 to 108. The instructor will bring all the materials, including the string, and provide step-by-step instructions for building the kite. In less than an hour, you can make kites that fly better than many store-bought ones. Invite your family and friends to build together. You can then fly them in the gym or on the back lawn. Each session begins with a helpful feature, followed by open time to work through real questions—so everyone learns together. Bring your challenges and leave with solutions! The past topics include: Zoom accessibility feature (zooming in the screen, not Zoom, the video call software) Email inboxes (Gmail specifically) and how you can turn on or off the automatic sorting feature Sharing photos between your phone and computer Turning off notifications for apps you don't want spamming your phone with unnecessary notifications Identifying how much storage is available on your device Password managers and their safety/security Siri activation and features, such as opening apps, making calls, sending texts, and setting reminders. Core Strength and Conditioning
Exercise

This class is for those who want to build strength, especially in their core, glutes, and shoulders. After age 35, we start losing muscle mass which can lead to a host of problems, but the good news is, if you are intentional with your exercise routine, you can build new muscle at any age! In this class, we will use progressive overload (repeating movements with multiple sets) to fatigue our muscles and thus build strength. All exercises are designed to be safe and effective. All abilities are welcome, no previous experience is required. Variations and modifications will always be given to work within your limits while still challenging yourself. Geopolitical Roundtable: A Closer Look at Significant Issues and Events in Geopolitics Today
Current Events

MG (Ret) Bruce Zukauskas will lead and facilitate a roundtable discussion on significant geopolitical issues and events occurring in today's complex world. The objective is to provide a forum for a better understanding of world events and also provide a means to discuss and learn about different viewpoints on world affairs. General Zukauskas will select his “Top 3 Issues or Events of the Day” prior to each session in order to help stimulate the discussion. For example, the “Top 3 Issues” for a session might be: the West’s continued support for the War in Ukraine, Israel and Hamas, or Iran’s next move in the Middle East. He will begin each session with a short background presentation for a better understanding of the topics. Groton Historical Walking Tour: Courts & Coaches
History & Culture

Hear the story of Groton’s time as a destination in the early 1800s. This walking tour will travel from Prescott Community Center down Main Street to Old Ayer Road and back, focusing on Groton’s prominence during the stagecoach days, and the legacy those times left in the town, including Lawrence Academy. Participants will meet at the Prescott Community Center. The walk is 1 mile down and back. While children are welcome to attend, these are history tours that involve walking, standing, and listening for 8-10 minute intervals at each stop. Please plan accordingly. * Prior registration is required to attend. On March 26, 1792, a group of Groton citizens gathered with the vision of founding a school—one that would become Lawrence Academy, now one of the oldest independent schools in the country. Today, the Academy is known for its warm, compassionate, and welcoming community. We will begin at Academy Hill, where Head of School Dan Scheibe will share insights into the Academy’s history, key milestones, and current initiatives. Following this, archivist Paul Husted will lead a guided tour of the campus, offering a deeper look into its rich history. **All proceeds benefit the Prescott Community Center.**

Machine Sewing: Learn to Sew your Own Skirt
Workshops

Ready to build your sewing confidence and create something you’ll actually wear? In this two-session workshop, students will learn how to make a simple, custom, gathered skirt using their own sewing machines. We’ll start by measuring, drafting, and cutting a basic skirt pattern, then move on to assembling and sewing the garment step-by-step. You’ll practice essential machine-sewing skills such as accurate cutting, seam construction, waistband techniques, and finishing seams. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a handmade skirt and the knowledge to recreate the pattern again at home. You should come already knowing how to use your sewing machine. Students are required to bring materials including a sewing machine. A materials list is provided in the confirmation email.
