Cyanotype Printing
Explore cyanotype printing on paper or fabric to create botanical or photo-style prints by applying a light-sensitive iron solution, then exposing it to sunlight to produce a cyan-blue print. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842. It was first used to make architecture blueprints. This class will cover a little history and the basic process for creating your own prints using nontoxic chemicals, the power of the sun, and a dash of creativity!Workshop $40 | Material fee $20

Kids for Community + Parents Night Out - Ages 6-10
Community
Kids will enjoy some fun games and activities and get to work on a service craft project to help others, all while parents take a moment to themselves. The service projects may include making birthday cards for Make-a-Wish kids with a critical illness, no-sew blankets, or greeting cards for Golden Age neighbors. Calling all young builders! Whether you’re a LEGO® master or just love putting bricks together, LEGO® Lab is the place to connect with kids who share your passion for creating. Lights, Camera, Action! Filmmaking Workshop - Ages 10-15

Lights, Camera, Create! Join us for a hands-on, week-long evening program that introduces students to the full video production process, from concept to final screening. Students will learn the fundamentals of storytelling, filming, editing, and sound design while working together to create short videos, including commercials, how-to videos, and short narrative pieces. The program emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and real-world media skills in a fun and supportive environment. The small-group environment allows the student to develop ideas, collaborate, and produce more polished, creative work. PROGRAM STRUCTURE: Day 1: Storytelling and Pre-Production Introduction to video storytelling and examples Group formation and idea selection from prompts or original concepts Scriptwriting and storyboarding Planning locations, shots, and roles Day 2: Filming Fundamentals Camera basics using phones and tablets Shot types, framing, and movement Begin filming on location around the building and grounds Instructor guidance and feedback during production Day 3: Production and Editing Optional review of footage and troubleshooting Introductory editing demo using accessible tools Introduction to basic editing concepts Cutting footage, arranging sequences, and pacing Day 4: Editing and Sound Design Continue filming and refine scenes Adding music, sound effects, and basic titles Guidance on copyright-free media resources Finalize edits and polish videos Day 5: Final Edits and Screening Group presentations and screening event Constructive feedback and discussion Celebrate student work! Students should bring a phone, tablet or camera with video recording capability. Free or low-cost editing apps will be recommended (no prior experience required). All instruction and guidance will be provided on-site.

Machine Sewing: Learn to Sew your Own Skirt
Workshops
Ready to build your sewing confidence and create something you’ll actually wear? In this two-session workshop, students will learn how to make a simple, custom, gathered skirt using their own sewing machines. We’ll start by measuring, drafting, and cutting a basic skirt pattern, then move on to assembling and sewing the garment step-by-step. You’ll practice essential machine-sewing skills such as accurate cutting, seam construction, waistband techniques, and finishing seams. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a handmade skirt and the knowledge to recreate the pattern again at home. You should come already knowing how to use your sewing machine. Students are required to bring materials including a sewing machine. A materials list is provided in the confirmation email.

Maker's Workshop: Cardboard Architecture Lab - Ages 8-14
Summer Fun Programs
In this hands-on maker workshop, kids will act as architects and builders as they design and construct their own miniature cardboard house. Using recycled cardboard, simple building techniques, and plenty of creative materials, students will cut, attach, and decorate walls, doors, windows, and roofs to create a unique structure. We will explore design, engineering, and problem-solving, learning how artists and builders turn simple materials into imaginative spaces. Each student will leave with a unique cardboard house and new maker skills. All materials are provided. Workshop: $45 Material fee: $15

Maker's Workshop: For the Love of Cats - Ages 8-14

In this creative maker-style workshop, kids who love cats design and create fun projects inspired by our feline friends. Our handmade items are for cats and about cats, including sewing a soft catnip toy, crafting interactive cat toys, and painting a colorful cat portrait. Kids will learn hand sewing, designing, painting, and building while exploring how artists and creators make objects that are both fun and useful. They will bring home their creations to share with their own cat or give as a gift to a lucky feline friend! All materials are provided. Workshop: $45 Material fee: $15

Martial Arts Self-Defense for Adults
Exercise
Learn practical self-defense, coordination, and focus. Students will enhance their focus, physical fitness, and coordination skills, while also gaining the ability to protect themselves. Additionally, they will develop self-control by balancing mind, body, and spirit through martial arts. Meet the Alpacas at the Harvard Alpaca Ranch!
Family Fun
Come to meet and learn about the alpacas at the Harvard Alpaca Ranch! Harvard Alpaca Ranch is a working alpaca farm that currently maintains a herd of 39 alpacas. The tour will discuss how and why they raise these beautiful, peaceful animals and introduce you to the individual alpacas (yes, everyone has a name and a unique personality). You are welcome to ask questions during the tour and take photographs. At the end of the tour, you may shop at the Alpaca Shop, full of all types of beautiful alpaca products, including yarn, socks, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, blankets, stuffed animals, and a variety of souvenirs from the Ranch. Harvard Alpacas Farm will donate 10% of gross sales that day back to support the Prescott Community Center.

Mixed Media Canvas Painting: Llama with Felt Flowers - Ages 8-14

In this hands-on mixed media workshop, kids will create a whimsical 11x14 canvas painting featuring a llama's portrait. During a guided step-by-step tutorial, we will learn and practice key acrylic painting techniques—while adding their own unique flair and imaginative details along the way. After completing the painting, we will make felt flowers and leaves to attach as a festive headpiece for our llama. Class $30 | Material fee $7 All materials are provided.

Moms Who Move: Postnatal Rehabilitation with Your Baby!
Exercise
This course is for new moms who want to rehab their bodies through intentional breath and movement, but can’t find the time with the busy schedule a newborn requires! Bring your baby (0-1) and learn some simple yet effective exercises you can do with your little one! All exercises will integrate our littles so they will be entertained and engaged while we are moving. This is a great course for moms who want to learn postnatal-specific exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor, reduce abdominal separation, strengthen the core, mobilize the hips, and strengthen the shoulders. You will leave this class feeling energized and ready to embrace life with a newborn! This is also a great opportunity to connect with other new moms in a friendly and supportive environment. Emma has been teaching yoga for 13 years, and pre- and postnatal yoga for 9 years. She has two kiddos aged 4 and 7 and loves helping moms feel confident in their bodies during this transformative stage into motherhood. Please bring a yoga mat, a towel or blanket to place the baby on, a water bottle, and wear something comfy and easy to move in.

In the classroom, we will create oil paintings from your favorite still life and landscape photos. We will explore composition, underpainting, perspectives, color mixing, color harmony, and paint application. The instructor will provide a demonstration at the beginning of every class and instruction throughout. This class emphasizes creativity, exploration, and experimentation rather than technique. While composition, color mixing, perspective, and mark-making will all be considered, learning technique is a by-product of the joyful creation of art. Join the artists who love to paint outside! Whether you are a watercolor artist, pastelist, oil painter, or just want to work in your sketchbook, these plein air painting workshops are for you. Prescott teacher, Heather Barros, will be on hand to demonstrate and guide. Group interaction is encouraged! You may paint for as long or as short a time as you want.
