Zoo New England Turtle Conservation
Join us for an exciting and educational event with a Zoo New England field biologist! Kirsten will discuss the local conservation efforts on the Box and Blanding's turtles and how you can make a difference. Both species reside in eastern Massachusetts and have populations in the Great Groton area. This event is perfect for all ages, and you'll even meet our turtle friends! Fewer than 3,000 individuals of the large and gentle freshwater Blanding turtle species may remain in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, and Pennsylvania combined. In Massachusetts, where most of the northeastern Blanding’s turtles live, only four populations are currently known to have 50 or more adult turtles. The Eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) is Massachusetts’ only fully terrestrial turtle. They are rarer, and populations have declined significantly in recent decades through habitat loss and fragmentation in Massachusetts. Although there had been scattered reports of individual box turtles in northeastern Massachusetts, sustainable populations were thought to be potentially absent from this area. Zoo New England Conservation is more than a great day with family at Franklin Park or Stone Zoo. Core Strength and Conditioning
Exercise
This class is for those who want to build strength, especially in their core, glutes, and shoulders. After age 35, we start losing muscle mass which can lead to a host of problems, but the good news is, if you are intentional with your exercise routine, you can build new muscle at any age! In this class, we will use progressive overload (repeating movements with multiple sets) to fatigue our muscles and thus build strength. All exercises are designed to be safe and effective. All abilities are welcome, no previous experience is required. Variations and modifications will always be given to work within your limits while still challenging yourself. Building a strong body helps to prevent injury, lose fat, and create a lifestyle where movement is accessible as we age. **You are required to bring a yoga mat and water.** Here is what they are saying about Emma's Core Strength & Conditioning Class: "Emma is very motivating, always positive!" Mindfulness Pilates with Courtney
Exercise
Mindfulness Pilates is an introductory course covering the essential level of Stott Pilates. The class will focus on learning the principles of Pilates, the mat work, and creating mind-body awareness. You can take Mindfulness Pilates as many times as you need to build strength, improve posture, and relieve stress. Props such as stretch bands may be used in class and are provided by the instructor. You may bring a thick towel or workout blanket for additional support. If you have an issue the instructor needs to be sensitive about (such as recent surgery, health conditions, etc.), please let Courtney know before class. Please consult your doctor before attending class if you have any health conditions. Please bring a mat, towel, water bottle, and stretch band (optional). Mums Who Move: Postnatal Rehabilitation with Your Baby!
Exercise
This course is for new moms who want to rehab their bodies through intentional breath and movement, but can’t find the time with the busy schedule a newborn requires! Bring your baby (0-1) and learn some simple yet effective exercises you can do with your little one! All exercises will integrate our littles so they will be entertained and engaged while we are moving. This is a great course for moms who want to learn postnatal-specific exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor, reduce abdominal separation, strengthen the core, mobilize the hips, and strengthen the shoulders. You will leave this class feeling energized and ready to embrace life with a newborn! This is also a great opportunity to connect with other new moms in a friendly and supportive environment. Emma has been teaching yoga for 13 years, and pre- and postnatal yoga for 9 years. She has two kiddos aged 4 and 7 and loves helping moms feel confident in their bodies during this transformative stage into motherhood. Please bring a yoga mat, a towel or blanket to place the baby on, a water bottle, and wear something comfy and easy to move in. **This class takes place in an air conditioned studio.**

Pilates with Props
Exercise
Pilates with Props will use props such as the fitness circle, small balls, weights, and bands to intensify, support, and aid in muscle firing to build strength.
