In this class, you’ll explore techniques like cropping for impact, retouching, adjusting light and color, correcting white balance, and refining photographic style. You’ll also discover how to add filters, text, stickers, and other creative touches. Whether you want to enhance your photos for keepsakes or just have fun experimenting, you’ll walk away with the skills to make your pictures truly pop. Please bring your smartphone.

Smartphones, such as the Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, provide numerous camera settings for capturing high-quality photos and videos. In this class, you'll learn how to use these settings to improve your photos, whether you're shooting on the go or at home. We’ll cover the best settings for video, slow-motion, and cinematic formats, and utilize optical and digital zoom, as well as features like flash, time-lapse, slow-motion, cinematic, portrait, resolution, and more that you can adjust on your phone. We will experiment with these effects as we go through the class. Let's unlock the potential and enjoy capturing the moment. Step outside and see the world through a new lens! Join us for a fun, hands-on photography walk around Groton Center, where we’ll explore unique subjects, share tips on capturing the perfect shot, and experiment with different techniques. Taking a photo, video, or snapping a selfie has never been easier with your smartphone nearby. This class teaches you how to turn your ordinary snapshots into great photos! We'll discuss the rules of composition for landscapes, portraits, and actions, as well as how to utilize light and expand your vision beyond the apparent first shot. We'll look at examples of well-made images, discuss their uniqueness, and how to use this information to improve your photographic skills. You are welcome to bring your photos to the classroom to share with others. All you need to bring is your smartphone.
