Calling all makers! Bring your craft — knitting, painting, embroidery, jewelry, papercrafts, or whatever you love — and spend time creating with others. This is your time to relax, connect, and be inspired. Come craft, chat, and have fun! There is no instructor for this Open Studio Program.

Learn the basics of watercolor painting in this beginner class. No experience necessary. This course will focus on getting comfortable with watercolor techniques and enjoying the process of painting. The basics of color mixing, value, composition and use of materials and tools will be covered. Through guided instruction and a step by step guided demonstration process, together we’ll paint simple landscape subjects. This will allow you to learn this wonderful medium in a fun and supportive environment. A material list will be supplied prior to the start of class. Yoga practice begins with attention to the body and breath and is intended for everyone as part of a healthy lifestyle. We will practice a gentle Hatha based yoga that uses a combination of foundational yoga poses with the longer holds of Yin yoga, all with a focus on alignment, body awareness and breath practices. The pace is slower to allow for questions, individual assists and meditation practices within each class.

Concord Cheese Shop at Prescott Community Center! Join the Concord Cheese Shop team for a delicious evening of cheese and wine tasting. They will feature three beautiful Spanish wines paired with three Spanish cheeses. As you sample three expertly paired cheeses and wines, the experts will share tasting notes, origins, production methods, and pairing tips. This fun and flavorful experience is the perfect way to learn while you sip and savor. Each cheese sample will be about 1 oz, and each wine pour will be 1.5 oz. The program will discuss ways to configure laptops, tablets, or phones to enhance readability and utilize Siri to perform tasks using voice commands, making everyday activities quicker and easier. We will allocate a significant amount of Q&A time for other technical questions, such as email, folders, videos, etc. Please bring any device you would like help with making more accessible.

This class is for those who want to build strength, especially in their core, glutes, and shoulders. After age 35, we start losing muscle mass which can lead to a host of problems, but the good news is, if you are intentional with your exercise routine, you can build new muscle at any age! In this class, we will use progressive overload (repeating movements with multiple sets) to fatigue our muscles and thus build strength. All exercises are designed to be safe and effective. All abilities are welcome, no previous experience is required. Variations and modifications will always be given to work within your limits while still challenging yourself. Following his March 2024 talk, How False Beliefs About Meritocracy and Post-Racism Have Contributed to Unjust Socio-Economic Policies, Jeffrey Fuhrer returns to share insights from his latest work on economic justice. In the program, he will cover the following topics: A brief description of the current state of the economy; The current status of economic need in the US; The programs needed to address the need—primarily providing a more equal access to opportunity; The importance of changing narratives around economic and financial need to build support for such programs. The program will conclude with an open Q&A, offering participants the chance to explore the financial impact of today’s policy choices. Jeff Fuhrer brings nearly four decades of experience from the Federal Reserve System, including over 25 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He currently serves as a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institution and a Foundation Fellow at the Eastern Bank Foundation. We all love New England with its beautiful hills, old mountains and seacoast. But how did it all come to be? The answer involves a tale of fantastic factors and forces that created the complex and diverse land we live on. In this course, we will study the history of Massachusetts and greater New England from a geological perspective, both ancient and recent, both momentous and mundane, that have resulted in our home region. This course is great for those who are recovering from an injury, or want to focus on injury prevention. We will focus on a combination of mobility, strength, and flexibility in the different joints in our bodies, to create more durability and resilience. This is a slow paced class, and great for those new to yoga, or those who want a gentle yet intentional class. Please bring a yoga mat to class. MG (Ret) Bruce Zukauskas will lead and facilitate a roundtable discussion on significant geopolitical issues and events occurring in today's complex world. The objective is to provide a forum for a better understanding of world events and also provide a means to discuss and learn about different viewpoints on world affairs. General Zukauskas will select his “Top 3 Issues or Events of the Day” prior to each session in order to help stimulate the discussion. For example, the “Top 3 Issues” for a session might be: the West’s continued support for the War in Ukraine, Israel and Hamas, or Iran’s next move in the Middle East. He will begin each session with a short background presentation for a better understanding of the topics. Pickleball is social and fun! This class is geared for the player who wants to learn the game and all of its rules. Each week, the focus will shift to a different element of the game. During each class there will be instruction, player development skills & drills and game play. You are expected to attend all 4 weeks of the session. The instructor provides the pickleball racquets and balls. Students may choose to bring their own.
