Introduction to Tai Chi
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Taoist Tai Chi® arts, try some of the 108 movements in our unique set, and experience how regular tai chi practice has a positive impact on body, mind, and spirit. Whether you are looking to reduce stress, maintain health, or find deeper meaning, Taoist Tai Chi® arts can help at every stage of life. Taoist Tai Chi® arts are deeply rooted in a spiritual tradition of self-cultivation and compassion. For more than 50 years, our volunteer instructors have been helping people around the world regain and maintain their health, improve balance, build strength, and experience a deep sense of inner calm. Through mindful practice, we learn that true strength lies in softness, patience, humility, and the ability to truly listen—both to ourselves and to others. Letting go, rather than holding on, becomes the foundation for transformation, as we shift from grasping to giving, and from performance to deep internal change. Everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary. Begin now—your journey to better health and well-being starts with a single step in the right direction. Democracy in Peril: Lessons from History
Current Events
This online course examines instances in the past in which democratic states collapse into autocracy or dictatorship. We will take a pinch of political theory and mix it with a lot of traditional history in order to learn about the factors that weakened and then overwhelmed several democratic systems. We will discuss the collapse of the Roman Republic, France's First, Second and Third Republics, Germany's Weimar Republic, the Kingdom of Italy, the empire of Japan, and some countries that have become less democratic the past two decades, such as Russia, Turkey, Venezuela, El Salvador, and Hungary. **This is a virtual course on Zoom.**

Economic Justice
Current Events
Following his March 2024 talk, How False Beliefs About Meritocracy and Post-Racism Have Contributed to Unjust Socio-Economic Policies, Jeffrey Fuhrer returns to share insights from his latest work on economic justice. In the program, he will cover the following topics: A brief description of the current state of the economy; The current status of economic need in the US; The programs needed to address the need—primarily providing a more equal access to opportunity; The importance of changing narratives around economic and financial need to build support for such programs. The program will conclude with an open Q&A, offering participants the chance to explore the financial impact of today’s policy choices. Jeff Fuhrer brings nearly four decades of experience from the Federal Reserve System, including over 25 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He currently serves as a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institution and a Foundation Fellow at the Eastern Bank Foundation. Jeff's new book, The Myth That Made Us: How False Beliefs about Racism and Meritocracy Broke Our Economy (and How to Fix It), is available from MIT Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Penguin Random House, or bookstores.org. Geopolitical Roundtable: A Closer Look at Significant Issues and Events in Geopolitics Today
Current Events
MG (Ret) Bruce Zukauskas will lead and facilitate a roundtable discussion on significant geopolitical issues and events occurring in today's complex world. The objective is to provide a forum for a better understanding of world events and also provide a means to discuss and learn about different viewpoints on world affairs. General Zukauskas will select his “Top 3 Issues or Events of the Day” prior to each session in order to help stimulate the discussion. For example, the “Top 3 Issues” for a session might be: the West’s continued support for the War in Ukraine, Israel and Hamas, or Iran’s next move in the Middle East. He will begin each session with a short background presentation for a better understanding of the topics. A roundtable discussion, facilitated by General Zukauskas, will follow for questions, comments, and discussion on the selected topics or other noteworthy geopolitical topics of interest by the group. **All proceeds benefit the Prescott Community Center.** Here is what they are saying about Bruce's Geopolitical Roundtable: "A diverse array of relevant topics is addressed, with Organizer presenting thought-provoking content." "He is always prepared, well informed, invites comments and questions." "Bruce is extremely prepared and a great presenter. There were many diverse political opinions in the class, but Bruce navigated the discussion perfectly without engaging in partisan politics. He presented the material with a historical perspective as it related to Russia which was something you don't hear on the news." "It's a great class. Everyone is friendly and the format is great for an open discussion while being a curated experience."
