Drawing for Beginners
Are you struggling to capture shape, proportion, or perspective? Do you spend hours correcting mistakes, or have trouble seeing what's wrong with your work? In this class, we'll develop a fundamental skillset for producing recognizable images and clear likenesses: drawing. You'll learn a set of simple techniques for quickly and accurately rendering form, no matter the medium. This will not only improve your drawing, but also enhance your painting, sculpting, and visual thinking. This class is designed for beginners. No experience is required. Intermediate level students are also welcome to continue their work.

A Traveling Troubadour: Whale Tails
Family Fun
This is a 90-minute dynamic performance featuring original hip-hop and spoken word pieces written and performed by Desmond Curran. Desmond Curran, The "Traveling Troubadour," is a Spoken Word / Performance Artist currently living in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, and having called various places home throughout his life, he incorporates his experiences with the kaleidoscope of people he's encountered into his writing (and performance). Informed by his lifelong love of the Sea and the Outdoors, Desmond creates a distinctively individual voice that examines many of today's most pressing issues: mental health, grief and isolation, social media, global instability, and climate change. Entertainment will take center stage. Desmond will also utilize some of the time to explain and define hip hop and spoken word, and address any questions from parents and children. The performance will also serve as an ideal introduction for youth interested in the hip-hop and spoken-word workshops available to students in February.

Newhouse Wildlife Rescue Presents: Nibi the Beaver & Stanley the Groundhog
Family Fun
Join a live wildlife talk with Jane Newhouse, founder of Newhouse Wildlife Rescue, and meet Nibi the beaver and Stanley the groundhog! Newhouse Wildlife Rescue is a rehabilitation facility for injured and orphaned wildlife in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. With the company of Nibi and Stanley, Jane will discuss how wildlife is rescued and cared for in the rehabilitation facility. You will learn the dos and don’ts of helping injured and orphaned wild animals in emergencies, how humans can coexist with wild animals in our community, and gain awareness, love, and respect for wildlife. Bring your questions! Nibi, the celebrity beaver, was rescued in 2022 after being found alone on the side of the road as a one-week-old. The state later determined that Nibi was healthy and should be released. Petitions, social media outcries, and court battles ensued to keep her safe in rehab. The story was reported by The New York Times, The Washington Post, “Today Show,” the BBC, and beyond. Finally, with the intervention of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, Nibi was granted a permit to stay with Newhouse as an educational ambassador. **Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.** **All proceeds benefit the Prescott Community Center.**
