In this hands-on workshop, kids will explore the colorful world of needle felting by “painting with wool.” Using vibrant wool fibers and special felting needles, students will learn how to layer and blend colors to create a beautiful summer sunset scene with a sailboat. This relaxing and creative class is perfect for beginners and a great introduction to fiber art. Class $30 | Material fee $10

This intensive three-hour course covers adult/child CPR and AED, adult/child/infant choking, and infant CPR. Following the course, you will be comfortable assessing a victim, checking for breathing, performing rescue breaths and chest compressions, and activating the emergency response system. You will also learn how to help someone who is choking, respond in other emergency situations, and use an AED. An American Heart Association course completion card good for two years will be emailed to participants following the course. **Optional: bring a yoga mat or towel for comfort during the hands on portion.** Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certification e-card within 2 weeks of your class date. In this workshop, Dana Haigh will introduce the Alcohol Inks medium to create paintings of free flow of expressions. Alcohol inks are fast-drying and highly pigmented. They flow freely over any non-porous surface and have a mind on their own, allowing for a liberating approach to art and unexpected, spontaneous results. This class is designed for beginners with no prior ballet experience, introducing the student to the fundamentals of ballet technique. The class will be structured in a traditional format, beginning with barre work, followed by center work, and concluding with a stretching session. The emphasis will be on learning a ballet class structure, achieving correct body alignment, utilizing efficient body mechanics, developing good musicality, and exploring qualities and dynamics to progress toward a comprehensive understanding of ballet technique and expressiveness. Students will be guided to work safely and intelligently in pursuit of their physical potential. Students are required to bring a yoga mat (for stretching) and ballet shoes. Join us for a beginner-friendly Kripalu yoga class designed to help you connect your mind and body through simple breathing and movement. We’ll start with a calming centering and breathwork, then ease into accessible yoga poses with plenty of variations so you can move in a way that feels comfortable and right for you. We’ll finish with a short relaxation and meditation to help you leave feeling refreshed, balanced, and at ease. A dance cardio session with music and dancing from Indian movies that takes inspiration from all over the world. In the session we will be sweating and smiling through the classics and chartbusters of Bollywood movie songs in several languages. This cardio session is a fusion of various dance styles including classical Indian dances such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak, as well as elements of folk dances like Bhangra/Garba, jazz, hip-hop, and modern dance. It has become a popular form of exercise and recreation for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn and enjoy. Students will learn French conversational skills, grammar, usage, and mechanics, while learning to solve translations and honing their pronunciation and dictionary skills. As much as possible, students will be learning French interactively and naturally, through TPR (Total Physical Response), much in the same way one learns a maternal language. We will be using music, international signs, body language, and games during class, as well as reading short current event articles, graphic novels, and/or listening to short blogs. Students will learn basic greeting vocabulary, such as common expressions and commands, calendar items, weather, numbers, and action verbs. They will learn basic prepositions, and how to give and follow directions. Students will discuss hobbies, professions, likes and dislikes, as well as how to conjugate present verb tenses. Materials to bring: Please bring to class a notebook and/or loose-leaf paper, writing utensils, a pocket folder, and a small French/English dictionary would be helpful (Katy will have extras on hand). This class is for beginner adult students.
